  • 1¾ cups whole wheat flour
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup blackstrap molasses
  • ½ cup American Spoon Ginger Pear Butter
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly butter a 9-inch cake pan.
  • 2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt. Whisk the remaining ingredients together in a separate bowl until thoroughly combined. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the flour mixture and whisk to combine, making sure there are no lumps in the batter.
  • 3. Pour the batter into your prepared cake pan and bake for 45 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely then remove it from the pan. Spread more Ginger-Pear Butter over the cake to serve.
